Government Finance Officers Association Recognizes Community Power Fiscal Year 2026 Budget for Financial Management and Transparency
سان دييغو - سان دييغو In recognition of San Diego Community Power’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency, the public agency received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
“This achievement reflects Community Power’s dedication to fiscal stability and responsible financial management,” said San Diego County Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer, the Chair of Community Power’s Board of Directors. “It is a testament to the efforts of Community Power’s finance team to strengthen our financial position as we continue to provide the San Diego region with clean energy at the greatest possible value.”
Community Power’s fiscal year 2026 budget book was recognized for its clarity, accessibility and comprehensiveness. Budgets that receive the award must effectively serve as policy documents, financial plans, operation guides and communications devices.
“Financial stewardship is a part of the commitment that Community Power and its Board has made to the communities that we serve,” said National City Councilmember Ditas Yamane, who is Vice-Chair of Community Power’s Board and Chair of the agency’s Finance and Risk Management Committee. “Receiving the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award reaffirms not only that commitment, but also that our budget is accessible and transparent.”
The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award was created by GFOA in the 1980s to encourage state and local governments to produce high quality budget documents that meet the standards set by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting, as well as GFOA’s own best practices.
“As a growing public agency, fiscal stability and financial transparency are integral to Community Power,” said Community Power Director of Finance Tim Manglicmot. “This award demonstrates our commitment to those values as we continue to build reserves and offer our customers competitive rates while navigating the rapidly changing energy market.”
Approximately 1,900 governments or public agencies have received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award since its founding. This is the second year that Community Power has received the award.
