Community Power is providing energy-efficient refrigerators and freezers at no cost to corner stores and small businesses to stock California-grown fresh foods, thanks to funding from the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA).
Corner stores, small businesses and nonprofits are the heart of our neighborhoods. Energy-efficient refrigerators and freezers help you:
Save energy with equipment that uses less power
Keep California-grown fresh produce, nuts, dairy, meat, eggs and minimally processed and culturally appropriate foods fresh and safe
Bring healthier food choices to your customers and community

Eligibility
To qualify, applicants must be:
An active San Diego Community Power commercial customer; and
A corner store, including small-scale or grocery stores, either independent or chain, that sells a limited selection of foods and other products (corner stores do not need to be located on street corners); or
A small business (fewer than 100 employees), including but not limited to small farm operations with farm stands or stores that sell or donate food to low-income or low-food-access clientele, or
A nonprofit that sells or donates allowable food items directly to low-income or low-food-access clientele
Have a service address located in a low-income or low-food-access area where the equipment is installed (refer to low-income community and disadvantaged community census tracts in the California Climate Investments Priority Populations Map)
Currently accept, or have initiated the process to accept, EBT/SNAP/CalFresh benefits if conducting food sales
