As of April 1, 2024, California utilities are required to include a Rate Identification Number (RIN) on customer energy bills. A RIN is a unique identifier created by the California Energy Commission (CEC) to support time-of-use pricing plans. It allows customers to access hourly electric pricing data.
The RIN is based on electric rate schedules and is not tied to individual customers. If you’re a Community Choice Aggregator (CCA) customer with San Diego Community Power, your energy bill includes two separate RINs:
