PowerBase is the lowest-cost electricity generation service plan from your local, not-for-profit energy provider. It offers small bill savings that can make a big difference when paired with our other ways to save.
We make it easy to save. All you need is a copy of your SDG&E bill, which you can download from the My Energy Center portal.
Find your account number at the top of your SDG&E bill and fill out the form below. Enter only the first 12 digits of your account number, including any leading zeros and omitting spaces.
Choosing PowerBase lowers the generation portion of your bill, which is the part that San Diego Community Power controls. An average residential customer would pay approximately $155.29 per month with PowerBase versus $158.65 with PowerOn, our standard service plan.
Choosing PowerBase does not affect the electricity delivery or natural gas portions of your bill, which are controlled by SDG&E. We encourage you to use our Bill Comparison Calculator to estimate how much you can save based on your actual usage. You can also visit our Ways to Save page for more ways you can save on your energy bill.

Yes. You can request to change to our standard PowerOn plan or premium Power100 plan whenever you’d like. There is no commitment required. The change will take effect the next time your meter is read, which may take one or two billing cycles.
Most customers are enrolled in our standard PowerOn service. You must request to change your service plan to PowerBase.
If you are enrolled in Community Power’s PowerBase service plan, your SDG&E bill will show “PowerBase” directly after your CCA rate and vintage year under the CCA Electric Generation section of your bill, below Community Power’s charges. If you do not see “PowerBase” after your vintage year, then you are likely enrolled in our default PowerOn service plan. You can visit our Understanding Your Bill page for a full sample bill walkthrough.
Yes. PowerBase is available for all San Diego Community Power customers. Since solar credits for NEM 1.0 and NEM 2.0 customers are based on the same rates you would be charged, changing to PowerBase can reduce generation credits.
We’re always ready to welcome you back! However, please note that when customers re-enroll in San Diego Community Power service, SDG&E will apply the most recent Power Charge Indifference Adjustment (PCIA) vintage applicable as of the date they re-enroll. This may result in savings that differ from those published. If you’d like more information on how re-enrolling may impact your account, reach out to our Customer Service Center at 888-382-0169.
SDG&E also requires that you stay with their service for at least 12 months before returning to San Diego Community Power. When you’re ready and eligible to return to our service, you can visit our Re-enroll page.
